You can imagine that night, in the garden of Gethsemane, where Jesus was alone with his disciples. For Jesus must have been extremely stressful night. To the disciples, He told them, “My soul is deeply grieved, so that I am almost dying of sorrow. Stay here and stay awake and keep watch with Me.” He continued praying, “O my Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from me. Yet not what I want but what you want.” Under such stressful situations the truth comes out. Prayerfully read John 16 and feel what Jesus prayed you and what is the message that is for you.
He is already revealing the ultimate plan, when he says that “Holy Father, keep through Your name those whom You have given Me, that they may be one as We are.” One can see so many messages flowing out from here. Jesus is telling Father to keep you through His Name, and we think that it’s our righteousness.
