The three convicts are seen during the crucification process. We can only imagine what could have been the mental state of Barabbas, he may have already prepared his mind for crucification, and then suddenly there was this Man who took his place. Salvation is a gift, having said that, we know that Barabbas had to do nothing to earn it. The cross of Jesus was meant for Barabbas.
The other two who were crucified had no one preach the message of salvation. The only “message” they could hear were insults of people and the High Priests. Both got the same knowledge, one operated only by knowledge and repeated the insults. The other operated by belief and prayed one line prayer of salvation and he was saved. Keep the salvation message simple.
