Three convicts are seen during the crucification process One convicted as being a blasphemous Jew claiming to be the Son of YHWH and the other being thieves. We can only imagine what could have been the mental state of Barabbas, he may have already prepared his mind to go through the process of crucification and then ultimately go to hell for his sins. But, God had diffrent plans for him. There was this Man called Jesus who took sins of Barabbas upon Himself on the cross.
Salvation is a gift. Barabbas had to do nothing to earn it. The cross of Jesus was meant for Barabbas also. There was no one to preach or share the gospel with them. All they heard was insults hurled at Jesus Christ by the people and the High priests. The Amazing part however is that both the men recieved knowledge about Jesus Christ but one through his belief acknowledged Jesus as Saviour and said the following : Lord remember me when you come into your Kingdom!
It was a simple one line prayer which saved him from going eternal hell. Keep the salvation message simple. As i often say it’s not my kingdom it’s His Kingdom keeping that in mind let it be simple!
