We recommend reading Part 1 as a prologue to this blog.
After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. Matthew6:9-13
Taking it further we see that Yahshua taught us to say this, “Our Father which art in heaven”.
This is giving the right location and clear address, Which art in Heaven. Our prayers are in no manner directed to anyone or anything that dwells on this earth, in a way pleading to any of the institute, Church or any “holy” person on the earth. The direction is clearly set to Our Father who is in Heaven. When Solomon was dedicating the great Temple he had built, he very beautifully conveys a message. This message is very much applicable to those who take it for granted that God dwells in the church buildings and cathedrals. That there is a designated place which is holier than any other place in the building. Solomon says in 2 Chronicles 6:18, ““But will God indeed dwell with mankind on the earth? Behold, heaven and the highest heaven cannot contain You; how much less this house which I have built.” Let’s understand and revere the dwelling place of our Father.
1 Cor 3:16 has another dwelling place of God, “Know you not that you are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?”
Hallowed be Thy name.
Many parallel bible versions mention, Holy, Revered in place of Hallowed. All the versions indicate that His Name is Holy and will be kept Holy. We see all the evil all around abusing, blaming, twisting the name of God. They do this because they have not seen the Glory of God till now. This was the glory that made Moshe fall on his face, Yohanan trembled and fell down, Daniel at times fell sick when he saw the Glory of God. In Exodus 19:21, the Glory of God was such that God warned, “Go down and warn the people so they do not force their way through to see the LORD and many of them perish.” This is His Glory and power, which we miss out on. Grace is a covering which has kept us from being perished by the Glory of God.
Such is the Glory of God and we confess and remember to say that Holy be Your Name.
In the other part, we see Yahshua was teaching keeping in mind the second commandment; of not taking His name in vain and that His name was Holy and to be revered. We are not in any way certifying but proclaiming that His Name is Holy.
