Our Father In Heaven… Part 5

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

Matthew 6:12

This was the whole purpose of Jesus’ coming on the earth, going through all the pain till the cross, bearing our sins, conquering death as the first fruit, and now sitting at the right-hand side of the Father. Forgive us of our trespasses, unless we do not confess with our mouth and mean it in our hearts, we will never be able to establish the two-way relationship with our Father.

For God so loved the world, that when we were yet sinner, He gave His only begotten Son, Yahshua, who came and taught us to re-establish the broken relationship with the Father. We ought to ask the Father to forgive us of our sins. There is a more than asking for forgiveness from our Heavenly Father.

There is a pre-condition given to complete and fulfil the earlier part of the prayer, which asks us to forgive others so that our sins are forgiven. As we forgive those, who wronged us, who trespassed against us, caused a breakdown of relationship, caused hurt and pain, will receive the forgiveness from the Father and forgive others. By doing this little thing we have now become a small part of the forgiveness chain. Matthew 6:14-15, has put this in very clear term that if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.

But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins. We need to put our house straight before the Lord, so that we are found blameless before HIM.

We can further see in the parable of the unforgiving servant in Matthew 18: 23-35, clearly states that heavenly Father will not forgive you unless you forgive your brethren, “So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not everyone his brother their trespasses.”
